Unleash Your Pet's Potential!   Dog Training Services All of my services are conducted using dog-friendly training and behavior modification methods. I take a thoughtful, scientific approach to solving dog behavior problems. Most services are offered in a well-equipped training facility for your convenience and because I feel that approach lends itself to better personal attention and faster achievement of your goals. Early Puppy Socialization and Training Class Puppies are a lot of work and require intense socialization at an early age to help prevent future behavior problems. They need to have good experiences in the world as much as possible before they reach 4 months of age; these experiences have a powerful influence on what the puppy will be like as an adult. Unfortunately, most of us don't have the time to do this. If you recently acquired a new puppy or are thinking about getting a new puppy, attending puppy socialization class is key. Puppy socialization class is a drop-in class that takes place on Saturday evenings at 6pm. The cost of each session is 10KD. Manners Training Class Would you like your dog to have better manners? Manners training class focuses on teaching basic skills such as sit, down, stay, come when called, watch me, leave it, walk nicely on leash and not jumping up among other skills. The emphasis in manners training is on teaching good self-control skills to the dog, helping you, the owner, better understand your pet, these courses will enable you to train your dog to be a welcome member of the family. Information will include how dogs learn and dogs as pack animals. The emotional issues involved in dealing with a dog will also be explained, and how to put good management and exercise routines into place for improved behavior and easier living. We offer manners classes at varying levels. A 5-week course costs 75KD. The next session starts on 3 October, 2009. Private Behavior Consultations Does your dog have a specific, problem behavior that you wish to resolve? Private behavior consultations focus on more significant behaviors that are causing everyday living with the dog to be difficult. Examples of such behaviors are dog-to-dog aggression, lunging and barking while on leash, fearful or anxious behavior, destructive behavior, resource guarding and separation disorders. A private consultation costs 30KD. Treats, My Tool of Choice My methodology involves rewarding the dog for good behavior, so you will need to have lots of rewards on hand.  Typically treats are the best reward to use. Spend some time figuring out what your dog’s favorite treats are.  Some good options are string cheese, hot dogs, meatballs, and deli meat. Whatever you use, your treat size should be small; no bigger than the size of a pencil eraser.  Break large treats into smaller ones.  It is also very important that any treat you use be soft; kibble and milk bones do not make good training treats.  If your dog works best for toys, you are encouraged to have those on hand as well. In-home Intensive Training We offer an intensive in-home training program with one of our trainers. This program includes seven sessions in a row with your dog followed by three sessions with you and your dog. The trainer will teach your dog 'sit,' 'down,' 'stay,' 'heel,' and 'come' and work on any other problems you may have. The trainer will then teach you how to keep these behaviors sharp in your dogs brain. For this training program a corrective collar is used and it costs 250KD.
